About - Who am I?

My name is Glen Chivers and I come from Southampton, England. I am an undergraduate at The University of Sheffield studying Computer Science, learning Java, software engineering, networking artitectures and various other modules over the course of the next 4 years. I may opt to do a year out doing work experience in Europe in year 3. This website is just a project for me to do when I am bored!

I have various knowlege about computers, as for web design and media, I am a confident user in HTML and know some PHP and Javascript, however it is not enough just yet to create a site using PHP. I also have some knowledge in flash, but definatly not at the level of creating a website using flash, unlike my friend Aneurin at meinman.com, who has extensive knowledge in PHP and Flash, and he's younger than me! I do however hope to progress this site into PHP in the next year or so, and finally into flash, for broadband users in the next few years (although almost everyone will be on broadband then!).

Outside of web design, I am involved in what is called "case modding", just like modifying a car, but a computer case instead! I am currently in a case modding project and hope to finish soon, I will be putting some pictures and a work log up on this site. If you want more info I suggest you take a look at the website and forums I am a regular member in (as MrWillyWonka), check it out at bit-tech.net In hardware terms, I know a lot about general knowledge of hardware, and will probably (eventually!) put in a section on reccomended hardware for different uses - gaming, HTPC (Home Theatre PC), office use, servers, silent pc's etc. As for networking, I am pretty much an expert in this, I have set up countless networks and servers and will be expressing my knowledge to people who needs help in wired and wireless networking.
